After graduating from Stanford University, Kia returned home to Washington, DC and began her professional career in public service as a member of the Children’s Defense Fund’s (CDF) Black Student Leadership Network (BSLN) and the Freedom School Program. Under the direction of visionary leaders like Marian Wright Edelman, she learned what it truly means to be a ‘servant leader.’ Her journey in the nonprofit sector continued as an AmeriCorps member with Public Allies-DC, placed with the DC Rape Crisis Center. Kia's journey has continued, as she has worked for both national and local organizations including:
-
Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids
